Sunshine forward Tunde Adeniji has revealed his desires to reclaim his starting role from in-form Super Eagle B striker Chisom Chikatara who is battling to be fit for the quarter final tie against Guinea.
The 21-year-old who fired blanks in the 4-1 win over Niger in the first game has not started a game since the Abia Warriors hat-trick hero replaced him.
However, Adeniji may return to the starting line up for the last group match against Guinea and is confident Nigeria will qualify to the quarter finals.
‘We are training well and there is a huge belief among the players that we can get a win against them (Guinea),’ he said. ‘I am not distracted by the situation, I feel confident that I can take my chances.’
Nigeria currently leads Group C with four points and a win will guarantee top spot and a place into the quarter finals.
