Under-fire Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose will not be shut out of the Celtic team, club Manager Ronny Deila has promised.
Ambrose’s errors cost Celtic vital maximum points in the Europa Leagueon Thursday and having previsouly slammed the display of the Nigeria international, Coach Deila said he is not afraid of playing Ambrose in subsequent games as any player could make a mistake.
‘I am not afraid of playing him,’ Deila stated. ‘He knows he is in progress and he feels good because he knows he has played well over time.
‘He was very sorry about the mistake on Thursday but every player makes mistakes. He needs to move on from it, learn from it and follow up the progress he has been making because 98 per cent of his game on Thursday was very good.
Ambrose is suspended for Celtic’s Ladbrokes Premiership clash with Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Sunday.
The Nigeria defender was red carded in the last league game against Hearts but left-back Emilio Izaguirre, who was banned for the 2-2 Europa League draw with Fenerbahce at Parkhead on Thursday night, is back in contention
