Kenyan international defender David ‘Calabar’ Owino scored the lone goal to see his Zambian side Zesco United edge out Green Eagles 1-0 in a league match played at the Independence Stadium Lusaka on Saturday 23 April.
The win was the third straight for the champions.
Zesco, coming straight from the midweek Champions League win, had to endure early resistance with Clatous Chama Chota proving a handful for the hosts but had nothing to show with the tie heading to a scoreless draw at the break.
The hosts, Green Eagles were reduced to ten men on the hour mark when their captain was shown a red card for a foul on Clatous. Zesco took the one man advantage and scored minutes to full time through the Kenyan international after an assist from Jackson Mwanzo.
Other Kenyan international Anthony Akumu accumulated full minutes with Jesse Were being withdrawn in the 65th minute for Maybin Mwaba.
