After a sterling performance, Nigeria captain Okechukwu Azubuike has been named the Most Valuable Player by the CAF Technical Study Group for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal 2015.
The 18-year old, who is one of the four foreign-based players in the Nigeria squad plies his trade with Turkish side, Yeni Malatyaspor.
Indeed, the defensive midfielder was the fulcrum of Nigeria’s success at the championship that lasted 22 November to 12 December 2015.
The Dream Team VI beat Algeria 2-1 in the final to emerge champions of the second edition of the tournament.
The development means that Nigeria will be making a return to the Olympics as African champions
