Enyimba coach, Paul Aigbogun is keeping hope alive that his team can still make it to the semi final stage of the CAF Champions League despite suffering back-to-back defeats in the mini league group stage.
Enyimba’s qualification hopes was dealt a big blow Wednesday night in Pretoria as they lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Peoples Elephants had in their first tie also lost by a lone goal at home to Egyptian giants, Zamalek.
But while the handwriting on the wall suggest it is almost a lost course for Enyimba, Coach Aigbogun told SuperSports after the game against Sundowns his team will fight till the end for a place in the semi finals.
“The boys played to instruction. We lost because of a couple of errors. We came here to attack and see if we can get something out of the game. We are returning home to see how we can salvage the situation. Its not over yet for us,” Aigbogun said.
At the moment, the Nigeria League champions are bottom in Group B with 0 point from two games while Downs are top and Zamalek in second place.
