Warri Wolves and Enyimba International, Nigeria’s flag-bearers in CAF Champions League have both set targets of home wins for themselves in their Sunday clash against Sudanese side, Al Merreikh and Burundian outfit, Vital’0 respectively.
Two – time African champions, Enyimba will be taking on Vital’0 at their makeshift home ground, the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Sunday.
In order to have as many fans as possible to cheer them on, officials of Enyimba have agreed to throw the gates open for fans to come in free to watch Sunday’s game.
It is expected that the gesture may see more travelling fans from Aba and its environs.
To qualify for this stage, the Nigerian champions beat Vipers Sports Club of Uganda 2-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round.
Vital’0 edged on their part ousted Lioli FC of Lesotho 2-2 on aggregate. They won the first 2-1 on the road, but lost the return leg at home 1-0
On their part, Warri Wolves will play their first game in the competition against Sudanese side, Al Merreikh in what is their debut appearance.
Their opponents in the preliminary round, Club Sporting de Praia of Sao Tome and Principe withdrew from the competition allowing them easy passage into the first round.
The Seasiders face a tough task ahead in the competition with only 14 eligible players available to coach Peter Nieketien to pick from.
The likes of Lordson Ichul, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, Gbolaham Salami who were registered to participate in the competition have all left the club
