Reigning Nigeria League champions Enyimba have a tricky test before them in the next stage of the CAF Champions League as they have been pitched to face Etoile Du Sahel after seeing off Burundi side, Vital’O.
The winner in the Enyimba, Etoile clash over two legs will progress to the lucrative group stage.
Enyimba’s progress to the next phase was achieved though they were defeated 2-1 in the second leg clash on Saturday.
The 5-1 result the recorded in the First leg in Port Harcourt a week ago ensured that the Peoples Elephant progressed with a 6-3 aggregate score line.
Hoping for a double, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu gave Enyimba the lead after 28 minutes in Bujumbura, before Vital’O gave an instant response with the leveler two minutes later through Shasiri Nahimana.
Burundi international striker Laudit Mavugo scored a second goal for the home team on 65 minutes, but it was far from enough to help Vital’O overturn the heavy defeat they already suffered in the first leg.
Enyimba’s next opponent, Etoile du Sahel beat Morocco’s Olympique Khourigba 3-1 on aggregate to set up the clash with the Peoples’ Elephants.
