Crystal Palace earned their first draw of the season as they held Manchester United to a goalless scoreline at the Selhurst Park.
The home side started on fired and nearly took the lead earlier in the first half after Yohan Cabaye’s freekick comes off the United wall but Yannick Bolasie’s follow up shoot bounced off the bar.
At the other end a huge chance fell for Rooney as a wonderful pass from Martial put him through on goal but he just lets the ball run across him and onto his right foot, allowing Hennessey the time to rush off his line, and by the time he is set to shoot the keeper is there to claim the ball at his feet.
Cabaye continued his influence on the game as he slipped in Dwight Gayle with a superb pass by his shoot was saved by David de Gea as the first half ended goalless to the disappointment of both managers who were desperate for their sides to get on the front foot.
Manchester United were lackluster in the second half and Cabaye missed a glorious chance to put the Alan Pardew side in front as he missed his shot from six yards after he was left on marked and minutes later Gayle’s shoot was well saved by de Gea.
Anthony Martial nearly gave Manchester United a last minute winner but his right foot shoot from inside six yards was blocked on the line as both sides settled for a goalless draw.
