According to FCNaija.com, Enyimba manager Paul Aigbogun has dropped league hotshot Mfon Udoh from the match-day squad against Rivers United.
The Aba Elephants begin their campaign to defend their league crown with a trip to Port Harcourt but fans of the all-time Nigerian Premier League topscorer will have to wait a little longer to see the former Akwa United star in action.
Mfon was plagued by injuries last season and suffered a career threatening illness but bounced back to full fitness towards the end of the campaign.
However, the arrival of highly rated Aigbogun has seen his chances of making a rapid return to first team action reduced as he dropped the player from the squad that lost 1-0 away to Vipers SC of Uganda in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary match.
Ahead of their first game in the new season of the Nigerian Professional League against Rivers United this afternoon, Mfon is not the only casualty as Christian Pyabara and Andrew Abalogwu who started the Champions League game are confined to the bench while Theophilous Afelokai who joined from Kano Pillars also will watch the match from the sidelines.
Aigbogun’s total snub of Mfon and not even giving him a place on the bench is a huge worry for fans of the Aba Landlords who wants to see their team consolidate on their seven league titles by playing their best at all times.
