Former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth has shared an important note of advice for highly rated South African central defender Rivaldo Coetzee.
The Ajax Cape Town youngster has recently been linked with moves to glamour SA PSL clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Orlando Pirates.
“Look, there is plenty of players who have gone overseas from Ajax Cape Town, so if he wants to go overseas he doesn’t have to go to a bigger club because Ajax (Amsterdam) is a perfect club to move to overseas too, because they have the perfect infrastructure,” Booth told Goal.com
“So, it’s not necessarily the case that he has to go to a bigger club to move abroad.”
Booth was also realistic in that Coetzee’s club Ajax has struggled after winning the MTN8, so it’s difficult for him to attract the very best clubs in Europe.
“For me, what he needs to do is to concentrate on becoming more consistent at Ajax and for their defence to become more consistent and more solid because they have conceded far too many goals,” he said.
“They have been leaking goals left, right and centre so he has to concentrate on his performance at Ajax first, before he can think about moving to a bigger club.
