Bolton Wanderers Coach Neil Lennon has passed glowing remarks about Nigerian striker Sola Ameobi as the former Newcastle United star hit the ground running with his first goal for the club in his debut show against Leeds United.
Lennon said the goal scoring debut has helped shut critics who raised eyebrows over the signing of the 33-year old and he believes he will help Bolton do better.
“Shola Ameobi scores with a great finish to put us a goal up. He did really when he came on. It was unfortunate that Gary Madine had to go off with a bit of concussion.
“People raised their eyebrows when we brought Shola in, but he’s shown today that’ll he make us better. That was his first game for a long time and I thought he contributed a lot”. Lennon told Bolton’s official website.
Bolton went a goal up against Steve Evans’ side at Macron Stadium thanks to debutant Ameobi’s first-half strike.
