Bayern Munich shot stopper Manuel Neuer has warned that the club is chasing the treble this season and a record fourth Bundesliga title.
The German champions are already seven points clear at the top after only eight games following their 5-1 thrashing of nearest rivals Borussia Dortmund but still hurt by their elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Barcelona last season.
Neuer told Kicker:”We ourselves aren’t [satisfied] either,” he said. “Just this week I spoke with [Thomas] Muller about our exit against Barcelona last year, so something remains in our minds. The Treble would obviously be the ultimate for us.”
The 29 also revealed that the boring tag on the Bavarians is ultimately of little relevance to the players as Bayern will continue to pursue their targets regardless of how their competition fares.
“As players at Bayern, we’re not interested in any boredom — we’re interested in picking up three points each game,” the Bayern goalkeeper told kicker.
“We’ve got a possible record in front of us as the first team to become German champions four times in a row. That’s our goal.”
