Bayern Munich have lost some ground at the summit of the Bundesliga table after slumping to a shock 2-1 loss at home to Mainz 05 on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s loss is Bayern’s first home defeat since April and unfortunately for them Borussia Dortmund closed the gap at the top of the Bundesliga to five points.
It was Jhon Cordoba who scored the dramatic 86th-minute winner for Mainz at the Allianz Arena, firing home from inside the net to make it 2-1. They had led through Jairo before Arjen Robben levelled.
On Saturday, Dortmund host Bayern and could move within two points and create an unexpected Bundesliga title race in Pep Guardiola’s final season at the helm.
