Reports suggest Javier Mascherano will shortly renew with Barcelona, closing the door to a possible Juventus move where he could have linked up with former team-mate Dani Alves.
The Bianconeri were attempting to follow up on the signing of Dani Alves from the Blaugrana by picking up the Argentinian too.
But according to Rai, Barcelona international sporting director Ariedo Braida said there was no chance that Mascherano would Juventus, confirming the Argentine’s stay at Camp Nou.
“It is certain that Javier will not play for Juventus next season. He’ll stay with us.” Braida stated.
According to Calciomercato.it, however, Mascherano will shortly be offered a new contract that will allow him to extend his employment with the Catalan club.
The player’s entourage expects the salary to be increased. A failure to do so by the Blaugrana may still allow for negotiations to be reopened with Juventus.
