Kenyan international Jesse Were had a massive start to his career in Zambia with champions Zesco United as he hit four goals in his team’s 7 – 3 win over Zesco Mongu in a Friday 15 January friendly match.
Were, who joined the team in December 2015 got his debut and and did not disappoint, starting from where he had stopped at in the KPL, having emerged the 2015 season top scorer.
Idris Ilunga Mbombo netted a brace while Lazarous Kambole scored one to add on Jesse’s and sum up the team’s preseason training in Western Province.
Jesse has compatriots David Owino and midfielder Anthony Akumu at the team and will be looking to a great 2016 season as they aim at defending their title.
The team returns to their base in Ndola on Saturday 16 January. The Zambian Super League champions have been camping in the town since Sunday 10 January.
