Bandari FC is a step closer to defending their GOtv Shield title following the 2 – 1 win over Nakumatt FC in the second round of the tournament in the game played at the Moi International Sports Center (MISC) Kasarani on Friday 29 July.
Stand in coach Ken Odhiambo says the win was a great boost to their ambitions, in both the tournament and the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), where the Dockers have not had it going well in the season.
The team has managed two straight wins now, after previously beating Muhoroni Youth 2 – 1 in Mombasa and the coach admits the run will go a long way in instilling confidence in the team.
“The season has not been so good for us but I am confident that we will finish it well; we have had good results in the past two matches and that should be a sign of the growth in the team in terms of confidence and it also brings in some stability.
“The win over Nakumatt is a big boost to us because it strengthens our position as a serious contender for this title that we are looking to successfully defend. I believe with a win over such a tough team we will grow even further in confidence,” he said.
