Kenya’s representatives to the CAF Confederations Cup Bandari FC did not have it easy out in Lubumbashi as they were downed 2 – 0 by Congolese side St. Eloi Lupopo.
Lupopo got their first goal of the afternoon on the 34th minute courtesy of Mugalu Mutshimba and while it was thought the game would end in the slim score line, Heritier Makambo got the second on the 84th minute.
Bandari joins Kenyan champions Gor Mahia who also had a losing start to their continent al campaign, falling 1 – 2 at home to Madagascan champions CNaPS on Saturday 13 February.
Meanwhile, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) continued on Sunday with two matches on the cards. The first match saw new boys Posta Rangers beat Muhoroni Youth 2 – 0 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Former Gor Mahia striker Timothy Otieno scored both goals top ensure Rangers return with a bang to the top flight after two years out.
In the second KPL match of the day, AFC Leopards came from a goal down to hold Mathare United to a 1 – 1 draw.
Former AFC Leopards man Obadiah Ndege scored the opener on the second minute but former Mathare United midfielder Andrew Tololwa scored from the spot to level matters.
