The last match of the first week of the 2016 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season was staged on Thursday 18 February and lived to the billing as visitors Bandari FC twice came from behind to draw 2 – 2 with City Stars.
City Stars made an early statement with Oscar Mbugua’s opener but a defensive mixup saw former City Stars man Anthony Kimani level matters.
Former Bandari man Jimmy Bageya restored the lead for City Stars and the game headed to the break with the hosts leading 2 – 1.
Bandari’s Anthony Kimani thought he had leveled matters again early in the second half but his attempt was ruled out for offside.
It was however, not long afterwards that Luis Masika handled in the box to earn Bandari a penalty that was safely tucked away by Kimani to restore parity.
Jimmy Bageya and Musa Mudde had an altercation on the 75th minute that saw Mudde lash out at his countryman and referee David Mulongo flashed a red card at Mudde.
Meanwhile, champions Gor Mahia earlier played to a barren draw with Chemelil Sugar in their opening encounter of the season.
