Super Eagles and Mainz 05 defender Leon Balogun says he is gutted by his side’s collapse at home on Sunday following a 3-2 home defeat to Koln in a Bundesliga week 30 fixture.
The Nigerian international who extended Mainz’s lead after team-mate Cordoba had given them an early lead was left fuming after he and his team-mates let in three goals in less than 20 minutes.
The former Darmstadt 98 man who joined Mainz last summer took to social network to vent his spleen even as he takes positive from the disappointing result that marred his first goal for the club.
“Still mad about the defeat but that’s just football sometimes! Maybe just in time to get us in the right mood for the derby!! “This won’t take away the happiness about my first goal in Bundesliga though.” The light skinned centre-half stated. On twitter, the 27-year old who has bagged 16 starts in 20 league appearances for Mainz reacted thus:
Can’t even remember the last time I’ve been that disappointed…. — Leon Balogun (@LeonBalogun) April 17, 2016
The result leaves Balogun and his team-mates in 6 place on the 20-team log with eight games left to play in the league and a Europa league spot still on sight.
