Real Madrid received a massive boost ahead of Sunday’s La Liga match day 37 fixture against Valencia following the return of forward Karim Benzema and midfielder Casemiro while Gareth Bale and goalkeeper Keylor failed to train with the rest of the squad.
Zidane again called on the Real Madrid Castilla striker, Borja Mayoral, for the training session, which kicked off with a series of warm up exercises.
These were followed by various possession and pressuring drills, before finishing off with crossing and shooting.
The club statement on its official website said:
“The squad went back to training at the Real Madrid City in preparation for the La Liga match against Valencia that will take place this Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“Following the tests carried out on Gareth Bale, he has been diagnosed with a joint strain in his right knee. His recovery will continue to be assessed.
“Following tests carried out on Keylor Navas, he has been diagnosed with tendinitis in the achilies tendon of his left foot. His recovery will continue to be assessed.
“Benzema and Casemiro completed a session with the group in which ball work took centre stage. Keylor Navas, Bale and Carvajal worked in the indoor facilities.” The club stated.
After securing their place in the Champions League final, Real Madrid who are just one point behind the leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid welcome Valencia in the midst of a fantastic winning run in the league which currently stands at consecutive 10 victories.
The streak started on the second of March against Levante (1-3), then continued against Celta (7-1), Las Palmas (1-2) and Sevilla (4-0). April kicked off with a win at the Camp Nou (1-2) followed by victories over Éibar (4-0), Getafe (1-5), Villarreal (3-0), Rayo (2-3) and Real Sociedad (0-1).
Real Madrid have clinched six wins away from home and four at the Santiago Bernabéu and over the course of these 10 matches, they have scored 34 goals.
This week, against Valencia, Zidane’s team will be looking for their eleventh victory to keep them in the fight for La Liga.
