Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has established himself as a key player for the Spanish giants since his move from Tottenham Hotspurs three years ago and after a good start to the 2016/17 season, his fourth in Spain, he is gunning for another great season.
Heading to Madrid, he said one thing he really yearned for was winning the UEFA Champions League and after winning it twice, he wants to repeat the feat on home soil, with this season’s final set to be hosted in Cardiff City.
“This is the reason I came to Madrid – to play in the Champions League, to win the Champions League. To have the Champions League final in my home town is an even bigger motivation,” the 27-year-old Bale said in an interview with UEFA.com.
Bale was a star man as Real Madrid downed cross town rivals Atletico Madrid in last season’s final and went on to aid his nation, Wales, to the Euro Championships semi final.
He terms the two as the best moments of his career and won’t mind having another great season with the Madrid giants.
“It was an incredible season, especially topping it off by winning the Champions League and then going on to the Euro and doing an amazing job with Wales,” he said. They were two great moments in my career, in my life,” he added.
