Ghana and Swansea midfielder Andre Ayew will be without manager Francesco Guidolin for the game against Arsenal tonight as he was rushed to the hospital due to a chest infection.
The Italian was in the dugout for his side’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend but it was reported that he was already suffering from the illness.
However, the 60-year-old has failed to respond fully to medical treatment and will now spend a few days in hospital, meaning that he will miss this evening’s match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
A statement from the club read: “Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidolin will miss tonight’s Barclays Premier League fixture at Arsenal.
“Guidolin has been struggling with a chest infection for over a week and after failing to respond fully to medical treatment, was referred to a respiratory specialist at a London hospital this afternoon. The specialist felt that the best course of action was for Guidolin to remain in hospital for a few days to receive further treatment.
“He is in a comfortable position and is expected to recover fully in a few days. Everyone at Swansea City wishes him a speedy recovery. Alan Curtis will carry out his duties during his recovery period.”
Swansea are currently 16th on the Premier League log and play Arsenal tonight at the Emirates.
