Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho is confident his country will this time round beat the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) hoodoo and qualify for the 2017 edition that will be held in Gabon.
Uganda has started its campaign well this time out and the Gor Mahia man is convinced they can better the setbacks suffered in the previous two qualifiers and proceed to the finals.
Cranes sit atop Group D of the qualifiers after wins over Comoros and Botswana and heading to the game against Burkina Faso in March 2016, the midfielder is beaming with confidence.
“We have started well and this time we are determined to go all the way and avoid the previous disappointments. We are top of our group and the confidence among the players is high; we want to keep it that way,” he said.
However, the midfielder is not so confident with their 2018 World Cup chances. He says they will have to wait for the draws to know their opponents before planning well for the qualifiers.
“We do not even know our opponents yet so we have to wait. But of course we are determined to give our best there as well,” he added.
