African Footballer of the Year nominee, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang inspired Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Pokal quarter-finals with a 2-0 win against Augsburg.
The first half of the encounter ended goalless but the away side showed character as they scored twice in four minutes for the all important win.
The Gabonese scored the first with a neat finish while Henrikh Mkhitaryan powered in a right foot shot that deflected off a defender and went into the net for 2-0.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were made to work hard by their Bundesliga rivals before scoring twice in the space of five minutes at the WWK Arena, leaving them on course to reach the final of the tournament for a third successive season.
The prolific Aubameyang swept home a loose ball just after the hour mark for his 24th goal of the season before a deflected drive from Mkhitaryan after receiving a pass from Shinji Kagawa doubled the advantage for Dortmund and they held on to see the game off 2-0.
Dortmund have now recorded 11 victories in their last 14 outings in all competitions.
