Reports from Spain suggest Atletico Madrid have decided to part ways with Fernando Torres’ as they will not renew his loan deal from AC Milan beyond the summer.
The 31 year old who is adored at Atletico but has not been able to live up to expectations since his return to the club on loan from AC Milan will not feature against Barcelona as he has an ankle injury, and when head coach Diego Simeone was asked about him during his press conference, the Argentine confirmed that Torres will remain an Atletico Madrid legend even though he will not be staying beyond the end of the season.
“There is no Simeone/Torres divide among the Atleti fans now. They love us both unconditionally. What the fans want is for Atletico to win.
“The supporters didn’t stop loving Luis Aragones when he went. The same is true for Kiko, and now he’s retired. Idols like Fernando will be loved forever.” Said the Atletico head coach.
Simeone is believed to have told the former Chelsea flop he is not needed after his loan contract runs out at the end of the season, with the Spaniard on a 19-game goal drought.
