Nigerian youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first senior hat-trick on Saturday as Manchester City secured a comprehensive 0-4 win over Aston Villa to book their passage to the next phase of the FA Cup.
Iheanacho who was handed a starter’s shirt by Coach Manuel Pellegrini justified his selection as he netted the opening goal inside four minutes.
Iheanacho showed calm and composure with what looked rather like a simple finish from the youngster, who stabbed home from close range after Guzan could only parry a header from Fernando.
The second goal for City and by extension for Iheanacho came 20 minutes later and this time, it was from the penalty spot.
It was Raheem Sterling who was brought down in the area to win the spot kick, and Iheanacho converted from 12 yards in audacious fashion.
City pressed for more goals to kill the game in the first half but they were unable to increase their tally going in for the break.
However, Iheanacho was not done with scoring as he again banged in another in the second half to complete his hat trick, before teammate, Sterling added to the tally to kill the game for the Citizens at 4-0 to march on to the next phase of the FA Cup.
