It was amazing scenes inside the Emirates stadium as Arsenal fans begged manager Arsene Wenger to sign club legend Kanu Nwankwu and drop the under-performing Olivier Giroud during a charity game.
The game was organized by Arsenal Foundation as they bid to raise £1m to help build pitches in London, Jordan and Somalia for children and fans turned out to see great stars of yesteryear.
The 40-year-old who originally caused a funny stir at the begining of the game by coming on the pitch for the start of the game instead of sitting on the bench to make Arsenal 12 while AC Milan legends were 11.
Referee Howard Webb discovered and sent the Nigerian to the bench but he came off it and scored a hat-trick which made the fans chant: ‘Wenger, Wenger, sign him up!’
After the game, the supporters took to twitter to express their displeasure with current striker Olivier Giroud and pointed him to follow the example of the big Nigerian.
Some of the best tweets:
@JbMwamjeni_: Kanu still got it, > Giroud if you ask me.
@ibetapassmynebo: Kanu’s header is everything Giroud has been trying to achieve
@SolzObrian: Kanu scores less than 2 minutes of coming on. I think Wenger should sign him. He’d better than Giroud. Arsenal 1 Milan 0.
@osostubborn: KANU Can header better then GIROUD LOL
@KayyAyy_14: 40 year old Kanu > Giroud
