Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is hopeful his side will complete the £5million signing of Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny within the next few days but admits there are complications.
The Gunners have been closing in on the Egyptian international since the January transfer window opened last week and despite complications Wenger admits the deal is close.
“It is complicated a little bit but we are working hard on it and hopefully in the next two or three days we will get to the end of it.” Wenger told the Arsenal official website.
On whether Elneny will be the only signing…
“The only one? I don’t rule out anyone else, but he will be at least one signing that comes into an area where we are short at the moment.” Wenger added.
The 23-year-old midfielder has completed his medical and is now awaiting international clearance before joining up with his new team-mates at the Gunners’ London Colney HQ.
Arsenal have also been linked with a £44.6m move for the newly crowned African Footballer of the Year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this week and Wenger admits Elneny might not be the only addition during the window.
