Arsenal finished second in the premier league with a comprehensive 4-0 win against already relegated Aston Villa as Tottenham Hotspurs unexpectedly lost to Newcastle United at Saint James Park.
The Gunners began the game on fire as they coasted past Villa defenders in search of early goals that will secure them secure second on the log above bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs.
Santi Carzola returned to the starting line-up in place of Nigerian youngster Alex Iwobi. It didn’t take Arsenal long as France forward Olivier Giroud connected Nacho Monreal’s cross with a brilliant header to make it 1-0.
But the match did not turn into a rout as the home fans expected as Villa defended very well to end the first half 1-0.
Arsenal, eventually took the game beyond their visitors as Giroud grabbed an hat-trick for himself with two more strikes in the second half.
Mesut Ozil got to the byline and cuts back for the Frenchman, who finishes well at the near post for his second and with ten minutes left on the clock he received a pass from Hector Bellerin and finished with aplomb. Arsenal sealed victory with a late own goal from the visitors.
