Alexis Sanchez scored a brace to lead Arsenal to a comprehensive 3-0 win against Manchester United in a classic premier league match at the Emirates.
Arsenal raced to a three goals lead in the first half against a sloppy Manchester United side who perhaps thought defending wasn’t part of the match.
Alexis Sanchez turned in a Mesut Ozil cut back in the fifth minute and two minutes later he turned provider as he played inOzil and his effort left David de Gea in goal for the Red Devils stranded to make it 2-0.
The gunners then sent the Emirates into mad frenzy as former Barcelona forward Sanchez rifled in a powerful right foot shot from the edge of the box in the far corner of the goal to make it 3-0 in an incredible 20 minutes. United’s best chance in the first half fell to Anthony Martial but Petr Cech made the required save from his left foot shot.
Manchester United came into the second half as the better side as they controlled possession but failed to create a clear cut chance. The introduction of Marouane Fellaini and Antonio Valencia helped that cause.
However, Arsenal still had the best opportunities as Man-of-the-Match Sanchez orchestrated more openings but failed to beat De David for his hat-trick. Ozil also chasing a brace fired narrowly wide while substitute Olivier Giroud’s effort was too weak.
A big worry for Arsenal fans as Sanchez went off injured but Manchester United failed to get a consolation goal as Arsenal ran out 3-0 winners.
