Muhoroni Youth forward Moses Arita has been banned for a match after video footage reviewed by the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee (IDCC) picked him out elbowing an opponent.
The KPL management had preferred charges on the player after video footage showed him elbowing Sofapaka forward Eric Omonge in an off the ball incident during their Top Eight Knockout match played at the Nyayo National Stadium on May 2.
The striker will thus be passed ineligible for the team’s second leg of the Top 8 Cup semi final against Ulinzi Stars which is scheduled for Sunday 19 June at the NYayo National Stadium.
“Having considered the offence, the committee orders that Muhoroni Youth player jersey No.20 Moses Arita shall serve a one-match suspension at the next KPL organized match involving his team. He is however cautioned that any repeat of a similar offence within this season shall attract a stiff penalty from this committee,” the IDCC stated in their ruling on Friday.
Apart from the video footage, the disciplinary committee also reviewed the player’s caution record provided by KPL.
Heading to the game, Muhoroni Youth and Ulinzi Stars are delicately poised after the barren draw in the first leg of the semi final and the ban will pass as a big blow for tom Juma’s side with the coach already having goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo banned.
