After a troubled run in the recent past, which also came with another setback in the Copa America final and the resignation of head coach Gerrardo Martino, Argentina has shipped in a new coach, Erdgardo Bauza.
The Argentine takes over the job initially linked with Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone and Tottenham Hotspurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The 58 year old coach takes over the Albiceleste from Brazilian club Sao Paolo.
The coach has an uphill task ahead of him as he takes up a disjointed team heavily affected by the Copa America defeat which ended with star man Lionel Mesi retiring from international football.
He will lead Argentina in their World Cup qualifiers in September.
