There are fears that Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero may be heading for the sidelines yet again with another injury.
The Argentine striker picked up a knock to the heel in his side’s 3-1 victory over Southampton and City will have to take a more critical look at the gravity or otherwise of the latest injury setback.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini is understandably hoping for the best when the club assess Aguero, who was brought off on 65 minutes with City holding a 2-1 lead.
“Sergio was in pain, but we will see tomorrow (Sunday),” Pellegrini told reporters after the game. “Kun came off as a precaution. I spoke with him before the game and we said he would play 65 minutes. He has a kick in his heel, but nothing important. “He has played three games in a row and that’s why he came off – it’s important to see with the medical staff how he recovers from this game.”
Pellegrini’s side are back at the top of the Premier League with the win over the Saints, they will now shift focus to Tuesday evening League Cup against Hull City.
