Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has compared fellow German Mesut Ozil with five-time Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi ahead of the Champions League round of 16 second leg game on Wednesday.
The former Real Madrid midfielder has netted seven times and provided 19 assists in all competitions this season and the Barcelona goalkeeper thinks his side must be wary of the player who can do ‘unimaginable’ things like Messi.
“As a player, he can do unimaginable things, just like Messi,” he said. “He’s exciting, I’ve played with him two or three times and he’s a very significant player for the German national team.
“We’ll need to be alert tomorrow to make sure he doesn’t harm us.
“It’ll be a very difficult game tomorrow because we got a good result in the first leg, but that doesn’t mean we’re in the quarter-finals.
“We have to win tomorrow. Of course they are capable [of a comeback], they are one of the best teams in Europe. We have to win as we do any other game.”
Barcelona won the first leg 2-0 at the Emirates courtesy a Lionel Messi brace.
