Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has pointed out that the reason Real Madrid is doing well is down to manager Zinedine Zidane’s charisma and relationship with the players.
Zidane took over in the 2015/16 season after his boss Rafa Benitez was fired following a lean spell at the team and he went on to inspire the team to a second place finish in La Liga and winning the UEFA Champions League.
Ancelotti, who also worked with Zidane before, says the Frenchman’s charisma has endeared players to him and it makes them respect him a lot, a factor he challenges many other coaches to adopt.
“Zidane has a lot of charisma and the players respect him. I saw it when he was still my assistant and I think that’s the key to his success,”
“Plus he has a great relationship with the players. Your relation with the players is what matters most in the end. I think all coaches should understand that. The better your relationship with the players, the closer you are to them, the better the results are,” he said.
After five matches in the season Real Madrid is well atop the La Liga standings, having won four and drew one.
