Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti has said he would not lose sleep even if results fail to go his team’s way in their pre-season games so far the fitness level he wants to see in his players are evident.
Bayern lost on penalties to AC Milan in their opening International Champions Cup clash in the early hours of Thursday but for Ancelotti their a number of positives to dwell on aside the final score.
Ancelotti said his team took another step forward in their conditioning and physical preparations for the Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns.
“We have to continue our work. We have time to prepare the team before we start the official competition,” he said at a news conference.
“We can use this game to improve our conditioning, to improve our organization. We’re at the beginning, so we made some mistakes but of course we have to wait for all the players when they come back and after that we can prepare our season.”
Players like Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Renato Sanches were all missing in action as they are resting after playing in the Euros, and while midfielder Arturo Vidal is in the United States, he did not feature against Milan.
“At this moment, I think the most important thing is the physical condition,” he said. “We don’t have all the players, but we try to do our style, our play, so the goal is to improve our physical condition. In this sense, we are doing well. We didn’t have injuries tonight and we can continue to work, to prepare the next two games here and this is good. The Italian concluded.
