Carlo Ancelotti’s believe in the capability of the Bayern Munich team he is assembling for the new season is unshaken despite the early Thursday morning loss to Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.
Danilo scored the match winning goal as Bayern failed to make the most of their chances in New Jersey, with David Alaba hitting the post and Thiago Alcantara denied by Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.
The four-time defending Bundesliga champions Bayern now turn their attention to the DFL-Supercup against Borussia Dortmund on August 14, and new boss Ancelotti maintains that he is happy with how his squad’s season is shaping up.
“I have a really good team. I was really happy about the first half,” Ancelotti told reporters.
“I think we will be able to build a really strong team.
“I have a lot of confidence in my players and I’m sure we will have a fantastic season.”
In the end, Real Madrid finished the International Champions Cup with two victories and one loss, something that Zinedine Zidane’s men can take as a learning process heading into the start of the La Liga season and heading into the UEFA Super Cup match against Sevilla.
As for Bayern Munich, they end the International Champions Cup with a draw, win and now a loss respectively as they head back to Germany to prepare for the DFB SuperCup against Borussia Dortmund and the start of the Bundesliga season.
