Ex Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi has been appointed the new manager of Finland third division side, JS Hercules on a one year deal.
Amokachi will be in charge of the team with assistance from by Pekka Haaranen who managed the team last season.
A statement read on the club’s official website: ‘Oulu-based football club Hercules has signed an agreement with former Nigerian national team player and coach Daniel Amokachi.
‘He will be assisted by last season’s head coach Pekka Haaranen after he agreed a one year deal with Hercules.
Amokachi is an FA Cup winner with Everton and a role model for young footballers in Africa.
‘He scored the first goal in the Champions League history during his time at Belgium club, Club Brugge in a 1-0 victory against CSKA Moscow in 1992.
‘Amokachi represented Nigeria at two World Cup and won Olympic gold medal in Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996 with Nigeria.
‘He trained as a coach in the Netherlands and and served the Nigerian national team as coach from 2008-2015.’
