Kenyan international midfielders Ayub Timbe and Johanna Omollo were in action for their Belgian second division sides, Lierse SK and Royal Antwerp, respectively in a league match on Friday 30 October at Lierse’s Herman Stadium.
The two teams played to a barren draw in the clash and in effect denying Antwerp, who have championship ambitions, the chance to open a two – point gap at the summit ahead of the game against fellow title challengers Cercle Brugge.
Masika was a constant threat to the Antwerp defense with his penetration skills and darting runs forcing Antwerp defenders on the back foot in most instances. The youngster nearly got on the score sheet in the 48th minute but his shot went inches wide.
Omolo was pivotal in the game especially in building up from the midfield and in the 38th minute, combined well with Malsa and Hairemans to find Nico Binst who shot wide off the mark.
Masika was on his seventh league appearance for Lierse while Omolo was making his ninth appearance for Antwerp.
