Chuba Akpom has revealed that he intends to break into the Arsenal first team next season just like Alex Iwobi has done under the watchful eyes of Arsene Wenger.
The 20-year-old of Nigerian decent is currently on a season-long loan at Hull City, seven goals in 35 appearances for the Tigers.
Akpom like Iwobi has played for the England U-16 and 19 squads but he is still eligible to play for Nigeria, however, his biggest focus for now is to step up among the big boys at the Emirates and justify the club’s trust in him after handing him a four-and-a-half year deal last year.
‘I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,’ Akpom said of his time with Arsenal.
‘Arsenal’s a good club and I’ve always wanted to play for the first team there so I’m looking forward to going back at the end of the season.’
Iwobi marked his debut for Nigeria in their 1-1 draw against the Pharaohs of Egypt in the 2017 African Cup of Nations Qualifier played in Kaduna yesterday and Akpom may be playing alongside him for the Super Eagles in future.
