Ahead of their second group game in the CAF Champions League against Mamelodi Sundowns later today, Enyimba coach Paul Aigbogun has expressed confidence they can beat the South African champions in their backyard.
Enyimba lost their opening group game 1-0 at home to Zamalek and while, Sundowns led Entente Setif of Algeria 2-0 in Algiers in their opener, the game was cancelled after Setif was expelled from the competition due to crowd trouble toward the end of the game.
Both teams now go into today’s game with no points, and the Enyimba boss is confident they will beat their South African counterparts.
“This is football where anything can happen and we have to be confident going into any game,” said Aigbogun.
“That is not to say we don’t respect them, but we know it is a game we can win and we feel very confident going into the game.
“Sundowns are obviously a good side because they won their league last season and they went to Algeria and won but football isn’t always calculated like that,” he posited.
