The duo of Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany will not be fit for this weekend’s English Premier League clash against manager-less Swansea City, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed.
Argentine striker, Aguero has missed City’s last three games with a foot problem, while Citizens captain Kompany has been out for six matches with a calf issue and Saturday’s duel at the Etihad would also be missed by the enterprising duo.
Pellegrini at a press conference on Friday said that both men will not feature tomorrow, but does expect them to return to training next week and possibly play in the crunch game with Arsenal a week on Monday.
Meanwhile, there was some cheering injury update for the Citizens with the news that Martin Demichelis is back in the fold after sitting out Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, but midfielder Fernando (hamstring) and right-back Pablo Zabaleta (knee) are not yet fit.
With Aguero’s absence, there is an increased chance that Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho will get some playing time against the visiting Welsh side.
