Manchester City goal machine Sergio ‘kun’ Aguero is hoping to recover in time from injury to face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool following hamstring injury suffered on international duty with Argentina.
The international break saw Aguero and Spanish midfielder David Silva pick up injuries but while the former Valencia man is likely to be out for a fortnight with an ankle injury, the Argentine is due for a longer period on the sidelines.
However, Silva is touch-and-go for the Manchester derby against United at Old Trafford on Sunday, 25 October while Aguero, 27, looks certain to miss that, City’s Champions League double-header against Seville and three more Premier League games before the next international break.
But the striker – who banged in five goals against Newcastle in his last Premier League appearance – wants to play against arch-rivals Brazil in a World Cup qualifier on 13 November.
Aguero said: “I hope I can be there against Brazil but the injury must be let to recover a bit so there is no relapse.
“This is an injury you have to recover bit by bit but of course I want to be back quickly.”
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini will hope his topscorer will be back in time to face Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on 21 November.
