Anglo-Nigerian youngster Tosin Adarabioyo infuriated manager Pep Guardiola when he misplaced a crossfield pass during Manchester City’s 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich a pre-season test game on Wednesday.
The 18-year old defender started at the heart of the City defence and incurred the wrath of his new manager when he attempted a crossfield pass in the 14th minute, only to see the ball go out of play for a Bayern throw in and Guardiola’s reaction said it all.
The former Barcelona boss shook his head in disapproval and put his hand on his face before turning around to look at his coaching team in disappointment.
The young defender however went on to have a decent outing after that and lasted the entirety of the match as Guardiola suffered a defeat in his first game in charge of the club and against the team he had just left.
Speaking after the game, Adarabioyo said he was delighted to have featured in Guardiola’s first game in charge.
“It was a great honour for myself to start Pep’s first game as coach here,” he said.
Another Nigerian, Kelechi Iheanacho also started for City and was unlucky not to have scored when his 22nd minute shot only landed on the roof of the Bayern net.
He however only lasted the first 45 minutes.
