Napoli have received a bid for Kalidou Koulibaly from former Premier League champions Chelsea, Sky Italia reports.
Chelsea have been linked all summer with the defender and they have now made a £38m bid for him as new boss Antonio Conte continues to rebuild the side that faltered last season.
The 25-year old Senegalese is highly-rated and has been extensively scouted by Chelsea, with Conte in search of a central defender to complement his squad.
And it is now reported that the Serie A club have now received an offer from their Premier League counterparts.
Napoli have only recently sold striker Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus for £76m and may not be in a hurry to sell another of their star names, which could make things difficult for Chelsea, and therefore drive up his pricetag.
It is also reported that Chelsea are not the only side to have shown interest in Koulibaly, as Everton and Dortmund have also been mentioned but it is believed Chelsea are in front of the queue, and are expected to knock off the other clubs considering their superior financial power.
Conte has already overseen the arrivals of N’Golo Kante and Mitchy Batshuayi this summer and having shipped in a massive 53 goals last term, the Italian manager would be hoping to make them tighter at the back going into the new season.
Conte is keen to turn his attentions to Chelsea’s leaky defence after signing striker Michy Batshuayi and midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer.
