Arsenal are yet to make an offer for Riyad Mahrez, contrary to reports yesterday that he had agreed a move to the Emirates, the Daily Mail reports.
There were reports on Saturday the Algerian had agreed a £41.8m move to the Gunners after his agent Kamel Bengougam was spotted at Arsenal’s 1-1 pre-season friendly draw with Lens.
Reacting to the reports, Bengougam confirmed he was at Arsenal’s game against Lens, but denied a deal had been agreed as he was only there to watch another of his clients, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.
Leicester City have already lost N’Golo Kante to Chelsea, and almost lost Jamie Vardy to Arsenal earlier in the summer, but the 29-year old England striker opted to remain at the King Power Stadium.
And while Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of Mahrez, it is now reported that they are yet to make an official bid for the Algerian.
Also reacting to the media reports, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has insisted Mahrez will remain at the club
“It’s over, the market is over here, Mahrez wants to stay,” he said.
Leicester have put an improved deal on the table for Mahrez, which he is yet to sign, thereby fuelling speculations he wants out of the club.
