Efe Ambrose’s nightmare stay at Celtic continues after a fan of the Scottish champions launched a campaign to raise funds that will take him ‘away from Celtic forever’.
The 27-year old has been linked with a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce and the Celtic fan has launched the campaign to help the Turkish giants pay for the transfer of the Nigeria international.
The fundraising page was started by a Celtic fan named Andrew O’Donnell and it says: “We’re raising £1,500,000 to help Fenerbache raise £1.5m to take Efe Ambrose away from Celtic forever.”
The development had seen several Celtic fans expresse readiness to donate to the fundraiser, but no funds were raised before it was taken down.
Ambrose’s stock further plummeted after the shock 1-0 defeat to Gibralter side Lincoln Red Imps in a Champions League qualifying match, with the central defender partly responsible for the goal that condemned them to the defeat.
The Nigerian has been having a torrid time at Park Head, as his mistakes have often led to the Bhoys either conceding cheap goals or losing games.
It now remains to be seen if Fenerbahce will follow through with their reported interest in the former Kaduna United defender.
