Kenneth Omeruo is ‘close’ to joining Turkish champions Besiktas in another loan move away from his parent club, Chelsea.
The Nigeria defender has spent all his time since signing for Chelsea in 2012 out on loan, and will also be playing the 2016/17 season out on loan as well, with a move to Besiktas now very ‘close’, as he has now travelled to Istanbul.
“(Kenneth) Omeruo’s loan move to Besiktas is very close to happening and he will most likely sign this week,” a source informed.
The 22-year old played last season at another Turkish club, Kasimpasa, but they couldn’t afford to keep him permanently.
It is also understood that Besiktas initially wanted to sign him on a permanent basis, but couldn’t meet Chelsea’s demand for the central defender.
Omeruo has been listed in Nigeria’s 35-man provisional squad to the Olympic Games in Brazil, and while it remains uncertain he will attend, it looks likely.
