Abia Warriors chairman Emeka Inyama has denied claims by Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca that they have completed the signing of striker Chisom Chikatara.
The Moroccan giants announced on Friday they have finally secured the services of the Nigeria international striker, a development which Abia Warriors have now denied, claiming they have no business with Wydad Casablanca.
“We have no business with Wydad and no ITC concerning the player has been issued to them,” Inyama was quoted on AfricanFootball.com.
“You could double check this with the Nigeria Football Federation.
“Chikatara will play our home game against Plateau United on Sunday and on Monday night he will fly out to join his new club and it is certainly not Wydad Casablanca.”
There have been confusions over the sale of Chikatara to Wydad, as they had agreed terms with Abia shortly after the player shone at the CHAN tournament earlier this year in Rwanda.
Wydad however failed to meet their financial obligations regarding the transfer according to Inyama, which forced Abia to pull the plug on the deal.
As a result, Wydad’s announcement on Friday came as a surprise, which has not prompted a denial by the Abia Warriors chairman.
