Zlatan Ibrahimovic could give up almost £4million to sign for Manchester United this week, according to The Sun.
The Sweden skipper, 34, has been heavily linked with a reunion with new Old Trafford manager Jose Mourinho.
And national team boss Erik Hamren says 62-goal record scorer Ibrahimovic may be allowed to leave their Euro 2016 camp to seal the deal.
Hamren said: “We have days off. We plan our activities and players can act based on that.
“But I’m not going to speculate about such things.”
Ibrahimovic, available on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint- Germain this summer, has four clubs chasing him, with United the red-hot favourites.
His PSG deal includes a loyalty payment due to be paid on the day his contract ends — June 30.
So Ibra and his agent, Mino Raiola, risk losing out on the £3.9m net bonus if they announce his next club before it is paid.
Raiola is understood to be trying to negotiate a deal with PSG chiefs for the money to be transferred earlier.
But until the situation is resolved, United, Chelsea and Bayern will be kept sweating.
Ibrahimovic is set to turn his back on a lucrative move to China as he wants another Euro league title to add to his epic collection.
Having won NINE championship medals across France, Italy and Spain, he aims to make history by chalking up a tenth in a fourth different country.
That leaves the Prem and Bundesliga as his two options.
Ibrahimovic has spoken of his friendship and admiration for United boss Mourinho.
